Scrapbook Stories & News

I am not an academic, and sadly have some dyslexia and dysnomia problems which meant that school was often hell for me. I have trouble remembering and using systems, the names of people, things and places, and only really type with one finger, so it was an epic exercise to type to 250,000 words or so that make up my four novels. However, I have learned to cope with these annoyances, as they do not affect my intelligence or creative imagination, and my novels and poems are a testament to this.

Apart from researching and writing, my main outdoors hobby is carp fishing in lake margins, which my wife, Sylvia, also enjoys.

We both also love observing all aspects of nature, creative gardening, DIY, photography and 60’s music.

My First Book!

It was such a pity that the flash didn’t work on the photo of my first display. The lady in the picture was my first signing and she also ordered book two!

Virtually every scene in the first three novels are real places in Pembrokeshire. "Serpent Dunes Sands" is really Freshwater West Beach, which is my Wife's favourite place as she was lucky to live only a short distance from it.

2018 was an eventful year in so many ways, including some family health problems which restricted us in what we were able to do. Also, my previous web pages were vandalised, but I still sold a few books and enjoyed our pre-Christmas event in Tickhill.

Alan's Magic Book

Brillfanmagical! From this Magical story... A new series coming to SYLVTV..... It's good to dream!

Tickhill Christmas

Tickhill's late night Christmas shopping event proved to be as popular in 2018 as it has been over many years, even though it poured with rain a lot of the time, it's always worth a visit.

A cutting from the local newspaper about the event and prize giving.

AP 5

I have been editing some of the poems I wrote some time ago. I researched and wrote this when I lived in Tickhill. I hope you like it.

AP 6

Preparing to post and deliver some Christmas orders.

AP 8

COMPLEMENTS OF THE SEASON TO EACH & EVERYONE OF YOU!

AP9

I wrote this poem/song hoping someone might like to use it at Christmas.

AP7

Thank you for your orders and kind words!

AP 10

Both Sylvia and I have needed to have some eye treatment. Sylv needs cataracts removed from both eyes. I need another course of injections in my right eye.

AP 12

I have been receiving injections in my right eye for a number of years for the annoying problem: Macular Degeneration.

AP 11

We also both need to have some cardiac tests to help establish a couple of niggling problems.

AP13

Every time I go or take Sylv to the hospital, I take a set of my 4 books and some info sheets. Doing so has paid off.

AP14

I wrote this poem many years ago as I had so many thoughts and images in my mind! And I love it!

AP15

I always have some of my books in the boot of my car, even on holiday, but I didn't sell any this year. I did last year 2018 - Pat just loved them and had a full set.

AP16

One of the cardiac department tests Sylv and I had to do was on the walk machine. I hated it but gave out info.

AP18

Health problems this year have meant we have only been fishing three times apart from our holiday in late June.

AP17

My dentist bought a copy of each of my 4 novels as they were published, and like so many readers,is asking for a 5th.

AP19

I was sad not to be able to do more book signing, but November is not far away and Tickhill's late night.

AP21

I enjoyed my 83rd Birthday of 28th October, and hope I can continue writing. My eye injections seem to be helping.

AP20

This is one of my favourites. I wrote it having sadly observed the murder of our majestic elm trees.

AP22

As this is my last opportunity for me to have a sell & signing session this year, I will be attending this popular evening.

AP23

I am delighted that so many of you have loved reading my four stories. Will there be a 5th?????

AP24

I WOULD LIKE TO WISH EVERYONE A SINCERE SEASONAL GREETING. GOOD LICK IN 2020!
